CDEMA Situation Report #1 - Hurricane Earl

MESSAGE:
Initial Impacts in CDEMA Participating States as Hurricane Earl Continues to Strengthen as it Moves Across the Northern Leeward Islands

THE SITUATION:
A Hurricane Warning is still in effect for Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, Anguilla, Montserrat and the Virgin Islands. A Hurricane Warning in this instance means that hurricane conditions are expected within the warning area within the next 12 hours.

Hurricane Earl is a Category 2 on the Saffir-Simpson wind scale.  Maximum winds are 110 mph (175 km/hr) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecasted.

CDEMA Situation Report #2 - Hurricane Earl

MESSAGE:
Impacted CDEMA Participating States assess damages in the aftermath of Hurricane Earl

THE SITUATION:
Hurricane Earl has cleared the Virgin Islands.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Turks and Caicos Islands and the south eastern Bahamas.

Hurricane Earl is a Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson wind scale.  Maximum winds are 135 mph (215 km/hr) with higher gusts.

CDEMA Situation Report #3 - Hurricane Earl

MESSAGE:
Warnings lifted for CDEMA Participating States; Damage Assessments being finalised

THE SITUATION:
Tropical Storm Warnings have been lifted for Turks and Caicos Islands, south eastern Bahamas and San Salvador Island in the Bahamas

Hurricane Earl is now a Category 3 on the Saffir-Simpson wind scale.  Maximum winds are 125 mph (205 km/hr) with higher gusts. Some strengthening of this system is possible.

The Situation
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Belize. A tropical storm watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area generally within 48 hours.


At 3:00 pm Tropical Storm Karl was centered near latitude 18.3 N, Longitude 84.2 W. This position is about 274 miles east of Corozal Town. Maximum sustained winds are 40 mph moving 15mph and further strengthening is likely to occur.
