CDEMA Public Information Note - Severe Weather System shows signs of developing

Message: A strong tropical wave located about 225 miles southeast of Barbados at 2.00pm is forecasted to develop into a tropical storm within the next 48 hours. The system has the potential to be a dangerous storm for the islands of the eastern and central Caribbean.

CDEMA Public Information Note #2 –Tropical Storm Tomas is heading for Jamaica and Haiti (as of 11.00am November 4, 2010)

Message: Tropical Storm Warning in effect for Jamaica, Hurricane warning in effect for Haiti.

Situation: Tomas has regained strength. Maximum sustained winds are now 45 mph with higher gusts. At 11.00 a.m, November 4, 2010, the centre of the storm was located at latitude 16.3 north and longitude 76.1 W, which is about 125 miles south southeast of Kingston, Jamaica and 295 miles west south west of Port-au Prince Haiti. Tropical Storm winds extend outward up to 85 miles mainly to the east of  the center.
A tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within 36 hours but in this instance within 24 -36 hours.

Weather Information Note: Large tropical wave approaching Lesser Antilles

The National Hurricane Center in Miami, FL is advising that a tropical wave accompanied by a well-defined low pressure system is located about 1150 miles East-South-east of the Lesser Antilles as of 2:00 p.m. July 29, 2011. This disturbance continues to show signs of organization and environmental conditions are favorable for development during the next few days as the system moves west-northwest at about 15 to 20 mph.
