EVENTS:
There has been a break in the weather pattern over the last 24 hours. Flood waters have receded in all the regions that were previously affected. However, there are reports that there are accumulations of water in some farm areas in Region 2, 3 and 6. Some sections of Canals No 1 and 2, Parika, Naamryek, Meten-Meer-Zorg and De Kindren are still flooded in the backlands. The water level in the Mahaicony, Mahaica and Abary Creeks has risen during this period. National Drainage and Irrigation Authority has stop releasing  water from the EDWC through the Mahaica Creek.

PROGNOSIS:
There are indications that the situation is normalizing. The National Drainage and Irrigation Authority will continue to monitor the situation in the conservancies throughout the affected regions. Also all drainage and irrigation structures will be monitored closely.

IMPACT:
The total losses and number of persons affected to date is yet to be determined.

ACTIONS TAKEN:
The Civil Defence  Commission will continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis.
