The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the World Food Programme (WFP) delivered training on the CDEMA Logistics System (CLS) to members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF)on November 28th-29th. Instructors from CDEMA and the WFP jointly delivered the training to a cohort of twenty-one (21)JDF logistics operations personnel.
The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) through grant funding from the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (UKFCDO) facilitated the deployment of the Barbados Emergency Medical Team (EMT) for two (2) consecutive two-week rotations as part of the Hurricane Melissa relief and recovery efforts, under the umbrella of the Regional Response Mechanism (RRM). The field medical facility arrived in Kingston on November 21, 2025, followed by the deployment of forty-four (44) Emergency Medical Team (EMT) personnel from Barbados on November 22, 2025.
On November 17th, CARICOM Heads of Government travelled to Jamaica to demonstrate regional solidarity following the impact of Hurricane Melissa. The delegation included the Honourable Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda; the Honourable Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados; the Honourable Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada; and Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana. They were accompanied by senior regional officials, namely Dr. Carla Barnett, Secretary-General of CARICOM; Ms. Elizabeth Riley, Executive Director of CDEMA; Rear Admiral Errington Shurland, Executive Director of the Regional Security System (RSS); and Brigadier Carlos Lovell, Chief of Staff of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF).
