The National Hurricane Center in Miami, FL is advising that a tropical wave accompanied by a well-defined low pressure system is located about 1150 miles East-South-east of the Lesser Antilles as of 2:00 p.m. July 29, 2011. This disturbance continues to show signs of organization and environmental conditions are favorable for development during the next few days as the system moves west-northwest at about 15 to 20 mph.

This system is expected to produce moderate to heavy showers and should be in the vicinity of the Eastern Caribbean within the next 48-72 hours.

The Barbados Meteorological Services is monitoring the situation and is providing regular updates on the system.

National Disaster Offices are urged to continue to monitor the system and keep residents informed.

Klotzbach and William M. Gray of the Department of Atmospheric Science, Colorado State University. The season is expected to see about 9 hurricanes, 17 named storms and 5 major hurricanes.
