The Importance of Exercise Synergy to the Regional Response Mechanism

The Regional Response Mechanism (RRM) is an integral part of the CDEMA System. It is a network of CDEMA Participating States (PSs), national, regional and international disaster stakeholders through which external response and relief operations in support of an impacted CDEMA PS are coordinated.

The Targeted Support to CDEMA Project and Comprehensive Disaster Management

The Targeted Support to CDEMA Project was conceptualized to assist CDEMA with its mandate of building resilience in the region. Funded by Global Affairs Canada, the ultimate outcome of the project is improved Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) action in the 19 Participating States. The project contributes to the strengthening of Comprehensive Disaster Management in the region through its financial and technical support to the CDEMA system.

CDEMA hosts Regional Search and Rescue Training Programme

Bridgetown, Barbados November 8th, 2022 – The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency is hosting its first in-person regional training session since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the Regional Search and Rescue Programme, Disciplined forces from Barbados and Antigua assembled at Arch Hall Fire Academy in Barbados for a week of comprehensive training, as the agency embarks on expansion of the programme to better serve its 19 Participating States.

Digital Transformation of CDEMA

The Digital Transformation of the CDEMA Coordinating Unit has been an ongoing process over many years which has strengthened the ability of the agency to execute its mandate to its Participating States and the people of the Caribbean region whom it serves. The COVID-19 pandemic forced many organisations worldwide to reimagine their business processes and to modernize their operations to avoid becoming obsolete in a quickly changing global landscape.

CDEMA hosts Geographical Information Systems Training for its Participating States

Bridgetown, Barbados June 9, 2022– The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) successfully hosted an online training for its Participating States between 9th May 2022 and 3rd June 2022 in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for Disaster Risk Management (DRM) in the Caribbean region. The online training consisted of six (6) self-paced training modules, culminating in two (2) days dedicated to a simulation exercise where the participants were tested on the knowledge gained in a controlled scenario under time constrained conditions.
