Global Affairs Canada funds CDEMA’s COVID-19 logistics hub operations

Bridgetown, Barbados July 21st, 2020 (CDEMA) – Canada continues to show its commitment to the fight against COVID-19 in the region by partnering with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), with its latest approval of funds to support the establishment of the Integrated Regional Logistics Hub (IRLH). A total of CAD$401,359.53 was re-allocated from the Targeted Support to CDEMA Project, towards the operations of the hub, which will ensure the supply of Personal Protective Equipment and other medical supplies to the frontline workers of its 18 Participating States.

Barbados receives medical supplies from the Caribbean Development Bank

Bridgetown, Barbados August 21st, 2020 – Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has officially been handed over to Barbados, funded by a US$3 million donation from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). On August 19, 2020, the official ceremony took place in conjunction with Department of Emergency Management (DEM). As of August 18, 2020, 24 active cases were on the island thus making the handover timely to the COVID-19 response.

World Health Organization and Jack Ma Foundation donate PPE to CARICOM States

Bridgetown, Barbados July 27th, 2020 (CDEMA) - The World Health Organization (WHO) and Jack Ma Foundation have made a significant donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The shipment of supplies worth over USD$700,000 arrived at the Grantley Adams International Airport on July 26, 2020.
