SITUATION OVERVIEW:
The Dutch naval vessel HNLMS Pelikaan (A804) arrived in Kingston Harbour today, November 4th, carrying 648 cubic metres of humanitarian relief supplies to support ongoing recovery operations in Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa. The shipment, coordinated through regional and international partners, includes critical items addressing early recovery, shelter, logistics, health, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) needs. The relief consignment was jointly provided by the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) Barbados, the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO), ShelterBox, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the World Food Programme (WFP). Upon completion of offloading operations, the HNLMSPelikaan is scheduled to return to Barbados to transport a second shipment of relief supplies.
