Proposals for presentations are invited to be featured at the 10th Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM10) during the Concurrent Sessions and the Film Festival.

Presentations should be based on the Conference theme “The Road to Resilience: CDM Check Point 2017 – Building Resilience through Partnerships”, and relevant to one of the four (4) Priority Areas of the CDM Strategy 2014-2024: (1) Institutional Strengthening (2) Knowledge Management (3) Sector Mainstreaming (4) Community Resilience. Prospective presenters should carefully review the information provided in the Call for Presentations and then submit their abstract via email. The deadline for submissions is July 28, 2017 at 11:59pm EST.

Bridgetown, Barbados, 16th June, 2017- The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency wishes to inform National Disaster Management Offices (NDMOs) and relevant national agencies, responsible for CDM implementation that in keeping with Item 6.5.5 of the Practical Guidelines (January 2016) for the EU External Aid Contracts financed by the EU general budget and the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) the closing date for the Fifth (5th) Call for Proposals (CFP) for the Country Directed Fund is hereby extended to August 15, 2017 at 11:59 PM Atlantic Standard Time.

MESSAGE: Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Barbados, Grenada and its Dependencies and Trinidad & Tobago. A Severe Weather Warning has been issued for sections of Guyana and Flash Flood Watch in effect for four (4) Parishes in Jamaica

THE SITUATION:

The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) have been monitoring an area of interest east south-east of the southern Windward Islands over the past 72 hours.

Bridgetown, Barbados May 30, 2017 31 participants from the disciplined forces, including police, military and fire services are taking part in the annual CARICOM Disaster Relief Unit (CDRU) training, which is being held at the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Coordinating Unit and the Headquarters of the Regional Security System (RSS) in Barbados from May 29 – June 2, 2017.

The CDRU is a specialised humanitarian response team equipped to provide assistance to any of the eighteen CDEMA Participating States, affected by natural or technological hazard.
