Compensation:
The compensation will be based on the individual’s qualifications and experience.
Merit Criteria:
1.0 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1.1 A Bachelor’s Degree in Earth Sciences or Environment Planning, Disaster Management, Physical Sciences or related discipline.
1.2 A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in disaster management or working in a related institution in the areas associated with the position.
1.3 Demonstrated operational experience at the national and/or regional level.
1.4 Experience in developing and implementing disaster preparedness and response programmes at the national and/or regional level.
1.5 Experience or training in logistics is desirable.
1.6 Experience in the development of project proposals and project planning and execution would be an asset.
2.0 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
2.1 Knowledge of disaster management issues in the Caribbean.
2.2 Knowledge of emergency operations (may include Emergency Operations Centre Operations; Incident Command Systems; Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis).
2.3 Knowledge of project management.
2.4 Good proposal writing, report writing, data acquisition and analysis skills.
2.5 Proficiency in relevant computer applications
2.6 Knowledge of database management desirable.
2.7 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
2.8 Negotiation, diplomacy and advocacy skills.
2.9 Ability to communicate effectively with persons at all levels.
2.10 Excellent planning and organizational skills.
2.11 Ability to manage multiple priorities and learn quickly
2.12 Flexibility and adaptability.
2.13 Demonstrated team leadership
2.14 Fluency in French, French Creole or Papiamento would be an asset.
2.15 Appreciation of workplace diversity.
