August 21, 2009 (Royal Navy) - A Royal Navy Task Group consisting of warship HMS Iron Duke and Royal Fleet Auxiliary Fort George are on patrol in the Caribbean standing by to provide disaster relief assistance if required. CDERA officials met with the Task Group Command Team on 13 August when HMS IRON DUKE visited Bridgetown, Barbados.

Washington, D.C., May 15, 2009 (IMF) The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund today approved a request for SDR 2.225 million (about US$3.4 million) in Emergency Natural Disaster Assistance for St. Kitts and Nevis.

A change in the name and scope of the regional disaster management agency is scheduled to take place on September 1, 2009.

Co-ordinator of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Response Agency (CDERA), Jeremy Collymore, noted that the change represents an important and transformational juncture of the organisation, as it becomes the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).
