The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) will host a two day training workshop on geological hazards next week. This workshop is a collaborative initiative between NEMO, the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the Seismic Research Centre, St. Augustine Campus, University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago.

A three day workshop to review the National Damage Assessment process in St. Vincent and the Grenadines commenced today. This workshop is a collaborative initiative between the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Barbados.

Bridgetown, Barbados, November 17, 2011 (CDEMA) – The tourism sector disaster management programme will benefit from an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) funded project to be officially launched in Barbados on Friday, November 18, 2011.  The US $750.000 grant will support the development of a regional monitoring, evaluation and reporting information system for the disaster risk management (DRM) and climate change adaptation in the Caribbean tourism sector.

Bridgetown, Barbados, November 10, 2011 (CDEMA) – CDEMA’s Executive Director, Jeremy Collymore is leading a CARICOM mission to Brazil to hold discussions on disaster risk reduction initiatives. The team of technical experts began the one week mission on Monday, 7 November aimed at exploring areas of strengthening cooperation in disaster risk management between the CARICOM States and Brazil.

Bridgetown, Barbados, October 26,  2011, (CDEMA) – A photographic E-Book and video feature on the history and achievements of CDEMA will soon be available across the region. Acute Vision Inc. and Digiscapes Barbados, two private sector partners, signed an agreement to co-sponsor the productions at the CDEMA Coordinating Unit on Friday, October 21, 2011.
