Bridgetown, Barbados, June 25, 2012 (CDEMA/ODPEM) – Jamaica, the incoming Chair of the CDEMA Council of Ministers, will host the 3rd Meeting of the Council which convenes on Friday, June 29 at the Courtleigh Hotel, Kingston, Jamaica. The Honorable Noel Arscott, Member of Parliament and Minister of Local Government and Community Development, Jamaica’s representative to the Council, will be the new Chairman.

Bridgetown, Barbados, May 29, 2012, (CDEMA) - Two Caribbean climate experts, Dr. David Farrell of the Caribbean Institute of Meteorology and Dr. Lorna Inniss of the Barbados Coastal Zone Management Unit, are currently on the central Pacific island of Kiribati (pronounced Kiribas) to study the climate challenges facing atoll countries and some of the solutions that are being adopted in Kiribati. Drs.  Farrell and Inniss will spend a week visiting several locations in Kiribati as part of the project “South-South Cooperation between Pacific and Caribbean Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management.”

Bridgetown, Barbados, May 25, 2012 (CDEMA) – The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) conducted its annual Region Rap Exercise today. This is a telecommunications exercise utilising various means including, telephone, electronic mail, facsimile, radio and satellite phones to test communications procedures, plans and networks of National Disaster Organizations across the Region.
