Turks and Caicos Islands, March 12,2013 - In recognition of the importance of effective disaster risk management to the sustainable development of the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), Dr Virginia Clerveaux will be transferred to the post of Director of the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) from 1 Apr 2013, Deputy Governor the Hon. Anya Williams announced today.

Port-au-Prince, Haiti, September 22, 2014 (DPC) - The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), with the support of the Department of Civil Protection (DPC) of the Ministry of the Interior and of Territorial Assemblies (MICT) of Haiti, is conducting a workshop from September 22 to September 26, 2014, on the integration of climate change considerations into the Comprehensive Disaster Management Country Work Programme of Haiti.

1.0 SITUATION OVERVIEW:

Haiti continues to recover from the Earthquake of January 12, 2010.

The Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive indicated that there were more than 200,000 people dead, 300,000 injuries treated, 250,000 destroyed houses, and 30,000 disrupted businesses as of February 3.
