Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, July 8th, 2015 (ACS) - “Our region remains one of the most at risk to seismic and the attendant tsunami events. In fact vulnerability and exposure have increased in the last decade in all the Caribbean territories due to a number of physical, social and economic factors,” delivered Dr Stephen Ramroop, Chief Executive Officer, Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management of Trinidad and Tobago on behalf of Mr Ronald Jackson, Executive Director, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) during the Opening Ceremony of a two day workshop convened at the Secretariat of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS).

Tacarigua, Trinidad and Tobago, June 26th, 2015 (ODPM) - The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) distributed bales of Cansorb to the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service (TTFS) following the official launch and demonstration of the product on May 27th, 2015 to key agencies such as TTFS, the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) and the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA).

Tacarigua, Trinidad and Tobago, May 28th, 2015 (ODPM) - The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) kicked off its Safer Schools Programme 2015 with visits to the Guaico Presbyterian Primary School and Moulton Hall Methodist Primary School on Monday 25th June, 2015 and Tuesday 26th June, 2015 respectively – both schools participated in the ODPM’s National Primary Schools’ Quiz in 2014 with Guaico Presbyterian emerging the winners.

Tacarigua, Trinidad and Tobago, April 27th, 2015 (ODPM) - The Office of Disaster, Preparedness and Management (ODPM) along with other supporting agencies continue to prepare the nation for any disaster that the country may face in the future. In wake of the 7.9 magnitude earthquake in the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, the ODPM urges all citizens to continue their efforts of preparedness and readiness for any possible emergency situation.

Tacarigua, Trinidad and Tobago, March 24th, 2015 (ODPM) - The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) in collaboration with local/regional and international response agencies will conduct its annual national exercise “Exercise Dark Storm 2015”, from March 24th – 26th, 2015. The aim of Exercise Dark Storm 2015 is to test the preparedness of the country’s National Response Framework when impacted by the natural hazards to which the nation is highly susceptible.
