The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), and the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands, are holding a high-level symposium on 27 June to discuss how national social protection programmes and systems can play a greater role in disaster risk management and in emergency response.
The Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) will observe Earthquake Awareness Week on 7th - 12th January, 2019. The intention is to sensitize residents and visitors to ensure they can effectively respond to an earthquake event. In addition, the DDME aims to strengthen the Earthquake Preparedness and Response Capacity of the Disaster Management System, by building resilience to earthquake impacts at the National and Community Level.

St. John, Antigua, June 28th, 2018 (NODS) - The two-million US dollar China-funded roofing restoration project on Barbuda has met and exceeded the target of 250 homes, just days before the June 30 deadline.
The initiative, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the government of Antigua and Barbuda, focused on repairing the roofs of houses that received minor and major damage, or those categorized between levels one and three.
