Turks and Caicos through the DDME Celebrates GIS Day 2016; Discovering the World through GIS

Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands, November 11th, 2016 (DDME) - The DDME will observe for the first time in Turks and Caicos Islands, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day on Wednesday, 16th November 2016, at the DDME Conference Room, 1316 Customs Complex, Off Leeward Highway, Providenciales from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands, September 22nd, 2016 (DDME) - The capacity for managing Emergency Shelters in the Turks and Caicos Islands will be enhance later this month as the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) will be hosting a Shelter Manager’s and a Training of Trainers Workshop. This two-part workshop is scheduled for September 26th – 29th September, 2016 at the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies Conference Room, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. This workshop is part of DDME’s ongoing objective to build disaster resilient communities throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands, April 29th, 2016 (DDME) - June 1st marks the beginning of the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season, however the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) will be observing Hurricane Preparedness Month beginning Sunday 1st May – 31st May, 2016 under the theme, “Preparing Make Sense….There is No Reason Not to Prepare. The Tropical Meteorology Project at the Colorado University is predicting the 2016 Hurricane Season to be an average one with (12) named storms, (5) of which will develop into hurricanes with two (2) developing into a major hurricane. In light of the predictions for the upcoming hurricane season, DDME would like to encourage residents to begin preparations early.
