NEMO & USAID OFDA to host Emergency Operation Centre Training Workshop

Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, November 10, 2009, (NEMO) - The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) will conduct a workshop on the establishment, operations, management and administration of Emergency Operation Centres, this Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd July, 2010.  This training workshop is a collaborative initiative between NEMO and the US Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance under the Latin American and Caribbean (OFDA/LAC) Programme.

Deputy Director of NEMO, Michelle Forbes states that the purpose of the workshop is to improve the capacity of members of NEMO’s National Sub-Committees, staff and volunteers to manage the Emergency Operation Centre in response to an emergency or disaster.


Participants in the Emergency Operation Centre Training Workshop will also be given the opportunity to take part in a simulation exercise, during which they are expected to establish an EOC.


The workshop will take place at NEMO’s Conference Room at Old Montrose, commencing at 9:00a.m each day.
