Cosago to hand over household items to four (4) families affected by the april 11- 12, 2011 flood in Georgetown

Kingstown, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, June 8, 2012 (NEMO) - The Council of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Organizations of USA, Inc. (COSAGO) will hand over a number of household items to four families, who were affected by the flood in Georgetown 11 - 12 April, 2011. These families were living in the Emergency Shelters in Georgetown but have returned to their homes a few months ago.

The handing over ceremony will take place at the Georgetown Community Centre on Thursday 7th June, at 10:00a.m. COSAGO’s Liaison Officer in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Retired Consul General to New York, Cosmus Cozier will hand over the items to the families. The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) will be represented by Deputy Director, Michelle Forbes at the handing over ceremony.

The Council of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Organizations of USA, Inc. (COSAGO) is an umbrella body comprising of 14 member organizations representing various areas in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). The Council’s mission is to foster cooperation among organizations and nationals of SVG, working closely on projects and events that have national significance in SVG, the U.S.A., the Caribbean and elsewhere.

In 2010, COSAGO donated barrels of food and clothing to the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) to aid in the Hurricane Tomas relief assistance programme.

COSAGO has been active in forming strong links with Vincentians in the Diaspora, at home and the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. On a national level, COSAGO continues to provide humanitarian assistance to Vincentians through the provision of scholarships to students and the donation of school supplies to various schools.
