National Office of Disaster Services (NODS), Antigua, March 22nd, 2013 - Eighteen individuals from various communities have boosted their knowledge of shelter management and initial damage assessment - two critical areas of the disaster management process.

The volunteers completed four days of training hosted by the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) and facilitated by USAID Consultant Dominica-born Cecil Shillingford, who is assigned to Antigua and Barbuda and several other Caribbean islands.

National Office of Disaster Services (NODS), Antigua, October 11th, 2012 - On the observance of International Day for Disaster Reduction on October 13 under the theme “Step up women and girls - the invisible force of resilience”, the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) is drawing attention to some of the women and girls who have been involved in disaster management in Antigua and Barbuda.

Antigua Observer, Antigua, September 8th, 2012 (www.antiguaobserver.com )- Executive Director of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Jeremy Collymore lauded the strides that have been made in disaster management over the past two decades. Collymore, who will be demitting office, has been a part of CDEMA from its inception in 1991. He said over the course of his tenure he has noticed institutional change in the way member states manage disasters.

St Johns Antigua, (March 1, 2010)….A 40-foot container was loaded at the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) last week with relief supplies for quake-ravaged Haiti.

Personnel from NODS, Antigua and Barbuda Defense Force (ABDF), District Disaster Co-ordinators (volunteers), Central Board of Health (CBH), and Public Works stocked the humanitarian aid supplies which includes tents, food, medicine, diapers, blankets, toiletries and other supplies.

This is the second relief shipment that has been collected and packaged at NODS, as part of Antigua’s ongoing relief efforts in conjunction with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

Minister responsible for Disaster Services Willmoth Daniel said the emergency relief efforts by NODS, and the public to assist Haiti in their time of need, has been commendable.
