Dome collapse has minimal effect |

BRADES, Montserrat (February 11, 2010) – Dr. Paul Cole, Director of the Montserrat Volcano Observatory, reported that at 12:35pm 11th February 2010, a series of pyroclastic flows occurred on the northern flanks of the Soufriere Hills Volcano. The MVO Director said the flows were probably caused by a partial dome collapse.

Brades, Montserrat, July 29, 2008 (DMCA) – Scientists at the Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) reported that a partial collapse of the dome at 11:30pm on Monday July 28, 2008 sent pyroclastic flows down Plymouth and into the sea on the western side of the volcano.

Montserrat evacuation zone to be extended |

Brades - Montserrat, February 7, 2007 (Emergency Policy Group) - Scientists at the MVO briefed the Emergency Policy Group this afternoon (Tuesday 6 February) and informed them that the dome at the Soufriere Hills Volcano is still growing on the Western side of the crater. It is estimated that the top of the dome now stands 1065 metres above sea level and contains some 250 million cubic metres of material.
