NODS Stocks 40-foot Container with Haiti Relief Supplies PDF Print E-mail

St Johns Antigua, (March 1, 2010)….A 40-foot container was loaded at the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) last week with relief supplies for quake-ravaged Haiti.

Personnel from NODS, Antigua and Barbuda Defense Force (ABDF), District Disaster Co-ordinators (volunteers), Central Board of Health (CBH), and Public Works stocked the humanitarian aid supplies which includes tents, food, medicine, diapers, blankets, toiletries and other supplies.

This is the second relief shipment that has been collected and packaged at NODS, as part of Antigua’s ongoing relief efforts in conjunction with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

Minister responsible for Disaster Services Willmoth Daniel said the emergency relief efforts by NODS, and the public to assist Haiti in their time of need, has been commendable.

Media Houses To Receive Tsunami Information Kit PDF Print E-mail

St Johns, Antigua, February 25, 2010 - Media houses on the island can expect to each receive a copy of the Tsunami Smart Information Kit for the Media. The initiative is brought to the twin-island state through the National Office of Disaster Services’ (NODS) partnership with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Agency (CEDMA), the University of the West Indies’ Seismic Research Centre (SRC) at the St. Augustine campus and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Antigua and Barbuda launches Tsunami and Other Coastal Hazards Public Awareness and Education Campaign PDF Print E-mail

Bridgetown, Barbados, February 8, 2010 (CDEMA) - Antigua and Barbuda’s Public Awareness and Education Campaign under the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) executed Tsunami and Other Coastal Hazards Warning System (TCHWS) Project, will be launched today, February 08, 2010 at the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS), St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.

NODS, CDEMA launch earthquake workshop PDF Print E-mail

The National Office of Disaster (NODS) in collaboration with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) yesterday launched an earthquake readiness programme to assist stakeholders to be better prepared for earthquakes, develop an earthquake contingency plan and promote earthquake awareness, and educate stakeholders on the proper use of a recently launched safety toolkit.
