A leading and most extensive clearinghouse on disaster management and its related areas in the Caribbean that provides information support for the promotion of a culture of reducing disaster losses in the Region
The Documentation Centre will collect, maintain and preserve relevant materials and information that will be channeled and disseminated through information networks, incorporating its National Disaster Offices and other stakeholders, to enable access to pertinent information in an efficient and timely manner thereby giving critical support to national and regional programs and activities for loss reduction.
Operating within the strategic framework and plan of the CDERA Coordinating Unit the Centre seeks:
- To improve and broaden the CDERA/CU in-house capacity to collect, organise and disseminate, in an efficient and effective manner, disaster management and related information to its Member States and the wider Caribbean;
- To support the National Disaster Offices of the Participating States in the establishment and maintenance of information centres;
- To collaborate with its partners, Disaster Information Agencies and other stakeholders to enhance and strengthen the Region’s capacity in the management of disaster information.
