Castries, February 20, 2009 (Saint Lucia Meteorological Service) -The Meteorological Service has advised that strong winds with gusts of up to 50 m.p.h. are expected to affect Saint Lucia and the Eastern Caribbean area during the next 24 to 48 hours. This will cause rough seas with waves 10 to 13 feet to affect the coast of St. Lucia and the other islands of the Lesser Antilles, which will result in some coastal flooding. Small craft operators, especially local fishermen are advised against venturing far from port.

Residents of coastal areas should monitor the situation and take the necessary precautions. All water sporting activities should be discontinued for the next 24 to 48 hours.
