CIMH and CDEMA host Marine Meteorology Workshop



The workshop will commence on Monday July 5, 2010 and is being hosted by the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) in collaboration with CDEMA, the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU) of Barbados and the United Kingdom (UK) Meteorology Services.  

The participants will be exposed to several modules including, hurricane impacts and hazards model and Real-Time Impact Forecasting System among other things.

The workshop is the first phase of training aimed at building capacities of staff at the national and regional levels and strengthening stakeholders’ ability to forecast marine phenomena including hurricanes.

Additionally, beneficiaries’ capabilities in mitigating the many risks associated with the marine environment in the CDEMA’s 18 Participating States will be enhanced.  

The workshop will be held at CMIH’s offices in Husbands, St. James, Barbados.
