SARAG-C Functions

The overall functions of the CDERA Search and Rescue Advisory Group - Caribbean (SARAG-C) are:

1. To provide the CDERA/CU with expert policy and technical advice relating to the development and sustainability of search and rescue capacity in the region.

2. To provide a forum for developing and reviewing policies, practices and procedures related to Search and Rescue.

3. Monitor and provide guidance to the CDERA/CU on matters related tot he International Search & Rescue Group (INSARAG) and UN SAR associated Resolutions as appropriate

More Specifically, the Advisory Group will be required to:

4. Provide technical input in the development of Search and Rescue documents and products including inter alia policies, procedures, plans and guidelines to be developed by the CDERA/CU

5. Serve as a review panel for technical Search and Rescue documents and products including inter alia policies, procedures, plans and guidelines developed by the CDERA/CU

6. Serve as a review panel for work undertaken in the area of Search and Rescue by consultants for CDERA

7. Make recommendations to the Coordinator on opportunities for enhancing the delivery of SAR Capacity training in the region

8. Advise the Coordinator on appropriate strategies for executing relevant Search and Rescue Programmes

9. Assist and advise the agency in planning and implementing training activities in the area of Search and Rescue

10. Advise CDERA/CU on collaborative opportunities with other INSARAG Regions and SAR Agencies involved in related activities

11. Advise on the ongoing implementation and monitoring of the Caribbean SAR Programme
