In July 2017, the CDEMA Coordinating Unit responded to a 2016 Early Warning Systems (EWS) study recommendation by bringing together a group of organizations with EWS related mandates for a dialogue around the vision of establishing a regional stakeholder arrangement to better support States in Early Warning Systems.
With the commitment of Consortium members and the financial support of ECHO through the “Strengthen integrated and cohesive preparedness capacity at a regional, national and community level in the Caribbean” Project, this work gathered momentum in 2019. The Regional Early Warning Systems Consortium (REWSC) was formally launched on 5th December 2019 and is intended to provide strategic direction to the development and sustainability of Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems (MHEWS) in the region from the regional to community levels. #EWS #ResilientStates #SaferLives
