Seismology of the Americas Conference. CALL FOR ABSTRACTS - Deadline January 24, 2018!y of the Americas Conferen

The Latin American and Caribbean Seismological Commission (LACSC) and the Seismological Society of America (SSA) will be hosting the Seismology of the Americas Conference in Miami, Florida on 14–17 May 2018.

There are over 50 technical sessions covering earthquake and tsunami topics. You are encouraged to submit an abstract to the Emergency Management Session or other through the Conference Website https://seismology2018.org/seismology-of-the-americas/

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

Brigadier General (R) Earl Arthurs Receives 2017 CDEMA Council of Ministers and Lifetime Achievement Awards

The European Union reaffirms its support for disaster preparedness in the Caribbean during the Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management

Nassau, Bahamas, December 9th, 2017 – More than 2 million € will be invested to strengthen disaster risk reduction and early warning systems through the exchange of good practices and building of capacities of the Caribbean countries to better be prepared to face destructive events in the future.

CDEMA presents cheques to Participating States impacted by Hurricanes

Nassau, Bahamas, December 8th, 2017 (CDEMA) – The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), presented cheques totaling US $140,000 to the hurricane impacted countries of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI). Both territories received US $70,000 each to assist with further relief and recovery efforts post hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Caribbean Focusing on Resilience at CDM10 Conference

Nassau, Bahamas, December 4th, 2017 (NEMA) – The 10th Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management opened just days after the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season ended, with stark reminders of how vulnerable the region is to catastrophic disasters.

The Hurricane Season ended on November 30, with countries in the region still recovering from Hurricanes Irma and Maria, which tore at the very fabric of economies, communities and the environment.
